PTSD and Trauma therapy in Swindon and Cirencester

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is an anxiety disorder caused by extremely stressful, distressing or frightening events. These events remain with us and can be triggered in our minds causing Flashbacks, Nightmares, Panic attacks and disrupted sleep patterns. With a reduction in quality sleep, we become unable to concentrate, irritable and anxious, which can lead to a lack of intellectual control, which reduces our ability to cope with every day life and can lead to more frequent distress.

Not everyone suffers with PTSD after a trauma. Our minds have a way of processing upsetting events natuarally, a process that happens in the brain whilst we sleep. But when the Trauma happens at a time when anxiety is high or the upsetting event is repeated often, such as Neglect, Abuse or Violence, it remains in the part of the brain that triggers our Fight or Flight response and we can lose control.

We can work together to reduce the emotional memories of distressing situations and events, which will allow your brain to process them and allow you to gain back control.

You will not need to give me any specific details of any events that you wish to deal with, the process can be dealt with in a totally private way.
